Monthly AIRE Perspectives – January 2025
Dear Friends and Valued Clients,
Please see below for The MAP – Monthly AIRE Perspectives for this month.
Los Angeles Fires
Our hearts are with those who have been impacted by the fires in Los Angeles. Our AIRE team has fortunately remained safe and our homes have not been affected as of this writing, but we have had heartbreaking conversations with friends and clients who have lost their homes in the first. This disaster has affected everyone in the community. We are grateful to all of the brave first responders who have been working tirelessly to combat the wildfires, and we are hopeful of the progress being made.
Our offices are fully operational and we are here to help. If you or your family have been affected, please reach out to us, as we are eager to help in any way we can. We also wanted to share a helpful link that was sent to us by one of our partners. Please click on the following link for the article: From free Ubers to hotel discounts: List of resources for LA wildfire victims.
Cash at Fidelity – IMPORTANT
You may have received a notice from Fidelity regarding the core transaction account in your non-retirement accounts at Fidelity. Effective sometime between February and June 2025, Fidelity is changing its default cash option on all non-retirement accounts to FCASH, which means that the higher-yielding money market funds will no longer be available for automatic purchase. However, these money market funds are available for purchase with no transaction costs, which means that we simply have to place orders to move the cash from the default FCASH into the money market funds. As your fiduciary, we will regularly check your accounts and will make our best efforts to move your cash as quickly as possible into the higher-yielding money market funds, so there is nothing you will need to do regarding this letter – we will handle this for you. Fidelity’s change, while inconvenient, is in line with general industry trends. Should you have questions or wish to discuss this change, please feel free to contact us at any time.
2024 Year in Review
For a brief review of the past year, we wanted to share with you just two charts – one from Avantis and one from Dimensional.
The following is an interesting graph from Avantis called As Much of 2024 That Fits on One Page:
Additionally, in line with how we often preach about the uselessness of market predictions, please take a moment to consider this chart from Dimensional. The yellow circles are the actual S&P 500 for each of the past five years, while the other colors mark the range of forecasts from Wall Street for the S&P 500 in each of those years. Note the lack of any overlap!
Congratulations to Lily Mossayi and Nathan Mescobi!
We are proud to share that two of our associates, Lily Mossayi and Nathan Mescobi, have passed the Series 65 exam, a significant achievement that qualifies them as Investment Adviser Representatives. This milestone reflect their dedication to providing thoughtful, informed financial guidance to our clients. Congratulations, Lily and Nathan!
Once again, we would like to thank you for your trust and loyalty, and look forward to speaking with you in the upcoming month.
