Market Volatility and Market Downturns • Cash at Fidelity

Monthly AIRE Perspectives – April 2025

Dear Friends and Valued Clients,

Please see below for The MAP – Monthly AIRE Perspectives for this month.

On Market Volatility and Market Downturns

During times of market volatility, we feel it is important for us to share educational content and reminders of the principles of successful long-term investing. Successful investing requires that we avoid common behavioral pitfalls and maintain a long-term outlook: for the stock portion of your portfolio, it should not matter as much where the market is today, but where it will be in 10 years. Here Is an excellent presentation and reminder, courtesy of Dimensional. Download

IMPORTANT NOTE: Cash at Fidelity

You may have received a notice from Fidelity regarding the core transaction account in your non-retirement accounts at Fidelity. Before the end of May, Fidelity is changing its default cash option on all non-retirement accounts to FCASH, which means that the higher-yielding money market funds will no longer be available for automatic purchase. However, these money market funds are available for purchase with no transaction costs, which means that we simply have to place orders to move the cash from the default FCASH into the money market funds. As your fiduciary, we will regularly check your accounts and will make our best efforts to move your cash as quickly as possible into the higher-yielding money market funds, so there is nothing you will need to do regarding this letter – we will handle this for you. Fidelity’s change, while inconvenient, is in line with general industry trends. Should you have questions or wish to discuss this change, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Once again, we would like to thank you for your trust and loyalty, and look forward to speaking with you in the upcoming month.
